In “Interrelations of behavioral, emotional, and cognitive school engagement in high school students. Journal of Youth and Adolescence” Li, & Lerner argues in the essence that behavioral, cognitive, and emotional engagement are related in regards to how adolescents achieve in school. Li & Lerner goes ahead to state that the three aspects affect each other in regards to time. Based on my vast experience as a researcher, I have to say that I find Li, & Lerner opinions intellectual, fascinating, and possibly notably well worth following.

Li, & Lerner application of cognitive, behavior, and emotional aspects symbolizes how real and significant they are to the commitment of adolescents in schools. First and foremost, Li, & Lerner denotes that emotional characteristics affects behavioral aspects and cognitive aspects. This suggests that emotional engagement influences behavioral engagement, and cognitive engagement, but the aspect regarding if cognitive affects emotional and behavioral engagements has not been fully investigated. Li & Lerner state that the blend of these three aspects has a great effect on an adolescent commitment in school.

Li & Lerner in the course of their research identified that emotion is the entry point or the key stimulator for the other engagements. They continued to state that when emotional commitment rises, it influences vigorous contribution, which thus leads to amplified cognitive engagement. Conversely, Li, & Lerner goes on to state that during their study, they did not expect that behavioral engagement would influence cognitive or emotional aspects in adolescents. Their research was based on positive youth development, an aspect that was to explain if behavioral engagements affect emotional and cognitive aspects. The research wanted to understand the effects of developmental assets effects in regards to positive youth development throughout adolescence. Li & Lerner used data that resulted from the Grades 9-11 waves or the waves five to seven from the 4-H study, which regards positive youth development. The 4-H study is an ongoing longitudinal scrutiny of adolescents that regards the measurements and definition the key structures of positive youth development, and understanding the effects of developmental assets effects in regards to positive youth development throughout adolescence.

The researcher steered by Li, & Lerner expected them to look at various demographic and non-demographic characteristics of the parent and the adolescents. The demographic and non-demographic characteristics were all written in the student and parent questionnaire. Li & Lerner argued that demographic and non-demographic characteristics were essential for the consideration of the school commitment of an adolescent. The key objective of the research was to analyze the interrelationships occurring among behavioral, cognitive, and emotional school engagement with time. The research assumed that emotions can be the access point to the relational process. However, the distinctions in the behavioral engagement influenced cognitive and emotional engagement. The research later identified that behavioral engagement was steady than cognitive and emotional aspects, which were discreetly steady. Li, & Lerner believed that the research would bring the anticipation that cognitive and emotional aspects could lead to extended behavioral engagement, and that past emotional engagement could influence cognitive engagement.

The complete present results showed that school engagement holds its personal inner dynamics, where behavior, cognition, and emotional aspects affect each other, thus intensifies over time. The conclusions were somewhat in line with the proposition that motivational opinions and positive emotions leads to the rise in participation, and that encouraging mood increases cognitive ability. Consequently, Li, & Lerner proposals regarding behavioral aspect twisted to be a significant predictor of cognitive and emotional engagement in both intervals. The most exceptional aspect with the results regards the connection between emotional and behavioral aspects is that it is not unidirectional, but bidirectional.

This critique backs its statements by referencing different researchers work and their proposal regarding that idea. Amongst the researchers it cites its work from is (Skinner et al.2008) who argued saying that behavior, cognition, and emotional affects each other, thus intensifying with time. The other scholar that Li, & Lerner referenced their work was (Glanville and Wildhagen 2007) who argued that school commitment is very important in academic achievement theories, as well as the broader child growth literature.

The basis of my critique will regard the aspect that behavior, cognition, and emotional influence each other, thus intensify themselves over time. Adolescents at this stage are said to have many conditions undergoing inside their bodies. Based on this fact, these three aspects are very vital in this stage as they tend to have the huge influence. Adolescents at this stage tend to change their behavior and emotions based on what goes on in their bodies. Basing on this fact, during adolescents, students tend to change their behaviors as a result of emotional changes, which thus escalate to cognitive engagement. The support and affection that adolescents get at this stage have a vital role in their performance in school. During this stage, many students tend to perform as per the affection they receive from the society. This is an aspect that Li & Lerner explains that there are other non-demographic and demographic aspects that pose a huge impact on the emotional, behavioral and cognitive engagements.

In conclusion, the study conducted by Li, & Lerner and (Skinner et al.2008) is very vital for teachers, parents and adolescent students. These articles are very instrumental as they point out the factors that play and influence the school engagement of adolescents. This study should also go further to understand how cognitive engagement affects emotional and behavioral aspects.

Critique of a Scholarly Article: A Quantitative Approach

Introduction

Patient care is at the core of nursing responsibilities. In this regard, nursing recognizes that effective patient care is fundamental for quick recovery of the patients. Because of the need to enhance recovery and prevent wastage of resources, most medical institutions are increasingly advocating for home based care. Empirical research ascertains that patients in home environments tend to be more relaxed and hence respond positively to the treatment accorded to them. As home makers, spouses, mothers and nurses, women play an integral role in providing home based are to various patients. The society expects them to provide these services to the ailing persons in their homes. However, they experience various challenges that equally compromise their quality of life and general wellbeing. Women suffering from cardiovascular infections particularly face a host of challenges especially considering that they are terminal patients. It is for this reason that DiGiacomo, Davidson, Zecchin, Lamb, and Daly, (2011) explore the health implications of women who provide home based care while suffering from cardiovascular infections at the same time.

The study under review sought to underscore the effect that care giving has on the cardiovascular health of women suffering from this disease. This was informed by the recognition that just like other women, these also participate actively in care giving. Basically, it cannot be disputed that care giving tasks are complex and involving. Reportedly, most care givers ascertain that they ultimately have poor health too (DiGiacomo et al, 2011). This is attributed to the mental as well as emotional strain that is associated with the practice. Further, relative roles demand immense physical, psychological and financial resources. Comparatively, they are more likely to develop health complications than the rest of the population. In light of this study, inherent difficulties are further exacerbated by the fact that the respective women suffer from cardiac problems. The authors of the study clearly present the main concern during their introduction. This placement is ideal as it acquaints the reader with factual background information about the topic (Polit & Beck, 2004).

With respect to the structure of the study, it is appropriate and qualifies the article to be employed in academic research. The study begins by providing important background information about the problem in its introduction. It then proceeds to the methodology and materials section. In this, it details the methods that were used during the study. Also, it underscores the findings of the study under the findings and discussion segment. Then, it cites the limitations of the study. Using these, future researchers wishing to pursue the subject further can identify intrinsic knowledge gaps and thus provide more credible results. Finally, it gives a conclusion of the study and lists the references employed in the same. According to Polit and Beck (2004), this is an ideal structure for quantitative nursing researches.

After identifying an ideal sample, the researchers present them with the Women’s-Role-Inventory- Protocol-Modified questionnaire to complete. This was drawn from membership of a CR medical program and constituted of fifty four participants. Although the sample was relevant, it was not representative of the global population. At this point in time, it is worth appreciating that studies, however small have various global implications. This is attributed to the fact that they contribute a great deal to the knowledge used for making critical decisions. Furthermore, current populations are diverse and hence, the generated knowledge needs to be comprehensive enough to effectively cater for their concerns.

Notably, this questionnaire is highly structured and seeks to determine the intensity of satisfaction as well as stress associated with women’s roles. In their study, Polit and Beck (2004) ascertain that quantitative nursing researches utilize highly structured questionnaires in data collection. The characteristic 10-point scale enabled effective rating of the degree of satisfaction or stress experienced by each participant. Besides garnering quantifiable levels of satisfaction and stress, it also aided in extrapolating the context and meanings of the relative perceptions. This was further followed by a discussion of the feelings of the participants. Although this move greatly compromised attainment of self generated responses, it ensured that the responses were objective and consistent with the measures presented in the survey and questionnaire instruments. To a great extent, this eased the process of coding and analysis of the findings.

With respect to analysis of the findings, the researchers employed statistical methods. In particular, they calculated the means, ranges and percentages of various aspects of their study. Relative measurements and definitions upon which this evaluation was based included the divorce rates, widowed periods and so forth. The findings were further presented graphically to ease understanding. Likewise, this is a highly structured approach that ensured that the outcomes were objective. Quantifying the findings enhances easy understanding of the same.

In their findings and discussion, the researchers ascertained that indeed, women play multiple roles in the home environment. Besides playing the roles of a spouse, they are also mothers and in some cases, bread winners of their families. Most importantly, they assume important nursing roles in home based care. Although these roles tend to be taxing and stressing, they are inherently satisfying (DiGiacomo, 2011). Nonetheless, the research recognized that unlike their counterparts, women suffering from cardiovascular diseases face unique challenges when performing relative roles. To a great extent, this compromises their health and makes them susceptible to relative illnesses. For this reason, the study concluded that although care giving by the respective women is satisfying, they need to create a balance between relative responsibilities and prioritization of their cardiovascular health. Finally, the researchers list the references they drew various ideas from. Using these, readers can be able to explore the presented information further.

In sum, the research article under review qualifies to be a quantitative nursing study. As it has come out from the preceding analysis, the study’s structure meets the requirements of an academic article. From the abstract and introduction, the authors proceed to the methodology segment. In this, they utilize a highly structured questionnaire to collect relevant data. Likewise, they analyze the data using statistical mathematical models. This contributes a great deal to objective outcomes. They then present their findings graphically as well as descriptively. Before they conclude by summarizing the entire study, they highlight the limitations of the study. From an ethical point of view, this is acceptable within the academic sphere. Finally, they provide a list of the sources they used as references. With these, the readers have a chance to study the provided facts further. In sum, the research article is idyllic, all encompassing and therefore credible within the academic sphere.

Critique Of An Essay

Critique Of An Essay

Critique Of An Essay

The introduction to the essay is not captivating and the grammar is not correct. The use of the word ‘so’ in a sentence must be followed by ‘that’. The essay should have started well and not with mistakes of sentence structure. The grammar used in the first paragraph should be improved to be of high standards. This means that the words used should be changed, in order to make the essay improve. The thesis statement is not structured well and should be shortened to communicate effectively to its reader. Some of the arguments presented in the thesis are not present in the essay’s body. More evidence should be provided to ensure that the reader obtains a lot of information regarding the arguments (Sherry, 2011).

The quotations have not been cited well, as the citations are found after the fool stop. This means that the citation has been placed at the wrong place. Explanations to the quotes are not given and the reader has to make their own conclusions. Upon reading the introduction, there is a lot of confusion regarding what it is about. The information has been mixed up, as one is not sure if the essay is about, parents, graduating or even students. The introduction is not captivating as the grammar, word choice, and punctuation are not correct as well as appropriate. There is contradiction between the conclusion and the essays purpose. The conclusion is a direct repetition of the thesis as well as the introduction (Sherry, 2011). It is not possible to identify the importance of the essay or what has been achieved. The conclusion ought to be more captivating, so that a person who has not read the essay can know what it is about.

The transition sentences have been stated, rather than being made to flow into the different paragraphs. There is no connection between the various paragraphs. There is not mention of music programs in the essays body, despite it being mentioned in the introductory paragraph. In order to connect the body paragraphs to the topic sentence, there have to be bridging clauses and this is not evident in the essay. Only a few transition words are used in the essay. This means that the reader has to make their own conclusions. Often, this is tiring to the readers and words of transition should have been used, such as; therefore, moreover, among others.

When quoting a sentence, it should not start at the beginning of the sentence without some explanation. Wordiness is an element present when the sentences are being quoted, and this should be reduced. An example of a long quoted sentence is “Parental effort is consistently associated with higher levels of achievement, and the magnitude of the effect of parental effort is substantial. We found that schools would need to increase per-pupil spending by more than $1,000 in order to achieve the same results that are gained with parental involvement (Beason, 1996).” There is no use of comma slices in most sentences to separate the various clauses. There are some paragraphs, which do not have any citation. This is plagiarism and it is an offense, which has serious consequences. The use of articles ‘the ‘and ‘a’ is not correct and this should be looked upon (Sherry, 2011). Also, some of the citations in the reference list have not been used in citing the essay. The essay should be reviewed thoroughly as well as proof read, in order to establish the mistakes it has.

Critique of Anne of Green Gables Movie Trilogy

Anne of Green Gables Movie Trilogy is a critically acclaimed move based on a worldwide best-selling novel. The movie was filmed in Canada on the picturesque Prince Edward Island. The award winning movie depicts the drama of Anne Shirley’s life an orphan who struggles through her teenage but become successful as a young adult woman. Anne makers a remarkable transition from an impetuous, romantic orphan to became an adventurous, outspoken and an accomplished young teacher. It is a clear illustration of wit and emotional power and the activities of every other character in the story directly or indirectly influence her to become what powerful women she becomes. Amidst this, watcher can clearly see and distinguish clear massages on how one should behave, conduct himself/herself, act during certain circumstances or assert a sense of ownership in relation to their gender. The story provides example that one would follow in being feminine or masculine.

The society has numerous expectations on people. These expectations are based on many variables such as gender, and education. Anne is a lady but her manners during childhood and teenage a centrally to what lady should conduct herself like. Marilla, one of her adaptors works tirelessly to ensure that she adopts lady like mannerisms but she fails repeatedly. Anne first has difficult in controlling her temper and is very impulsive (Beth). This and her imaginative nature consistently land her in trouble. However, one can grow and overcome such challenges. Anne learned to control her temper and impulsive actions as she grew up. For instance, the young an picked up fights very easily. An example of this is when she attacks Gilbert for making fun of her red hair.

The red hair also point out to the insecurities that young girls have. In adolescence many girls struggle with insecurities especially with thing people can see and point out. But as they grow they become more aware and confident of whom they are. This is certainly evident of Anne, as she grows; she becomes more confident and is not anger by her looks. Being feminine could be challenging in the wake of this insecurities but when one learns on how to embraces this insecurities and look at them in a positive way, she turns the insecurities around grow more confident and achieve more success. Amidst such insecurities, ladies must also learn how not to be carried away by gossip (Fitzgibbons). People will always gossip and will always have something to say about you. You response to such gossip influences the way people treat you afterwards.

Femininity is not associated with aggressive war like behaviors. A lady must be calm. Certainly an a aggressive girl who picks up fights like the teenage Anne needs a lot of guidance and teaching to learn how to become calm and composed. Certainly, Marilla did a commendable job on Anne to mould her into a respectable woman. Gaining composure and calmness can only come by when one learns how to handle their insecurities’ and respond to what people say. One should not be ready to attack or how back insult to whoever insults her.

Life involves a lot of sacrifices to both men and women. Anne a hard working girl has great ambitions and even won a scholarship, however, she put her ambition on hold to remain on the Island and take care of Marilla who had become blind in her old age (Dunn). She scarified taking a scholarship for a four year degree course, and decides to take up a teaching job close to home so that she can be close enough to take care of Marilla. This kind of choice, sacrifice or decision comes from a great sense of responsibility. Both men and have responsibilities but the approach to responsibilities is different. Only responsible people can take care of the elderly loved ones, and only few can sacrifice their ambitions due to this kind of responsibility. Although masculinity involves a sense of responsibility, it is not a strong as it is in femininity. It the caring instinct and abilities that accompany femininity that made Anne sacrifice her dream to take care of Marilla. Certainly, the reckless, highly tempered teenage Anne would not have shown such a great amount of responsibility and sacrifice.

Femininity is not an excuse for laziness. Ladies can draw lesson from Anne’s story; she is not lazy but hardworking who strive to realize her own dreams. Anne of Green Gables Movie Trilogy presents to young girls an opportunity to watch a life being built through honest hard work (Fruhling). Any work hard with a target and objective in mind taking each challenge as it comes by. She even changes her attitudes and mannerism on her way to become respectable teacher, wife and mother.

In conclusion, the Anne of Green Gables Movie Trilogy presents an inspiration story that can be used to improve and shape the lives of young girls to nature them into respectable ladies. Young girls must understand that femininity is not associated with warlike mannerisms, quick tempers and impulsive acts. A lady ought to be calm and always think before acting. Insecurities are part of every ladies life, but no one should ever allow insecurities to be their source of weakness. Every lady should learn how to positively handle her insecurities. Women should have a great sense of responsibility and should work hard to realize their drams. Hard and honest work always pays well. Finally, making sacrifices is part of life. At one time in life one has to choose between pursuing their ambition or a sacrificing their ambition to help a friend or a relative. The way one handles such a moment speaks volumes on their personality.

IntroductionCantwell, Dunning & Lundan (2010) found that accomplices’ cultural differences may have more impact on the execution of universal cooperation as those distinctions get to be all the more accurately identified with the partnership’s essential quality making exercises. A global cooperation’s execution is determined by the organization togetherness viability in attaining to its essential worth making exercises. Additionally, Hofstede (2010) said that asset complementarity between accomplices of global collusion is frequently a fundamental condition to enhance this quality creation. Consequently, to impart, join and power reciprocal assets, the accomplices’ workers must connect viable. Numerous specialists found that national and hierarchical culture differences between these workers influence their collaborations. This implies that distinctions in national and hierarchical culture have a huge effect on the execution of global business. This implies the impact to differences in standards of conduct, quality frameworks and dialects between the accomplices will impact the achievement or disappointment of a venture. In addition, Jewels & Albon (2013) likewise said that for a universal business, getting a handle on the communicating cultural dynamic between the international and the neighborhood is the way to be fruitful. Thusly, for international business, impact to differences in cultures and getting a handle on the interfacing cultural dynamic between the international and the neighborhood is essential in light of the fact that culture differences can straightforwardly influence the achievement or disappointment of an undertaking. In addition, Jewels & Albon (2013) said that cultural differences come from national, authoritative and Professional cultures. The distinctions in national, hierarchical and Professional culture can repress global partnership accomplices’ representatives’ capacity to associate adequately. This paper will critique how the way of life differences influence the international business from three separate perspectives: national culture, authoritative culture, and Professional culture: national culture, organizational culture, and professional culture. This is based on the article Implications of Cultural Differences in International Projects by Jewels, T., & Albon, R.

National CultureI realized that distinctive nations have diverse cultures. From (Cantwell, Dunning & Lundan, 2010), countries are discernable from one another by an imparted cultural history, for instance, religion, dialect, or racial character. Additionally, all these recognizing qualities mix into a national culture. Normal dialect, imparted religious, imparted good values, imparted history, relationship between the individual and gathering, and demeanor to instruction are all the components of national culture. National culture relates essentially to profound situated qualities (Hofstede, 2010). National culture impacts family life, authoritative culture, training, and monetary and political structures (Hofstede, 2010). Jewels & Albon (2013) likewise said that the impact of national culture is solid and dependable. Businesses, while they may add to their particular qualities and conduct, are likewise very impacted by the national culture of their nation of origin (Jiménez et al. 2010). Besides, Hofstede (2010) found that national culture clarifies half of the distinctions in directors’ mentality, convictions, and qualities. Moran, Harris & Moran (2011) said that national culture differences are obviously seen in monetary and political frameworks, instructive frameworks, and different establishments. In this manner, Moran, Harris & Moran (2011)Said that national culture differences between accomplices of the international cooperation can challenge the advancement of fruitful connections. Sarala & Vaara (2010) said that these difficulties stem part of the way from the absence of imported standards or qualities. Besides, this absence of basic comprehension may undermine the accomplices’ translation of one another’s key goal, which is urgent in international markets and businesses (Jiménez et al. 2010).In addition, Jewels & Albon, 2013 likewise said that National culture has been demonstrated to effect on real business exercises, from capital structure to gathering execution. Presently, we realize that distinctions in national culture have a huge effect on the international business. Hence, it is essential to study and see how the national culture impact on the international business. This paper will likewise talk about how the national culture impact on the global business by examining and dissecting how dialect and religious impact on the international business.

LanguagesI also agreed that basic dialect is a component of national culture. Dialect is the essential method for correspondence between individuals. Dialect encourages cultural communication and cultivates an arrangement of imparted qualities and standards (Sarala & Vaara, 2010). On the off chance that accomplices of universal partnership can’t have a regular dialect to impart, they can’t collaborate and associate because they can’t convey. Agents can’t work with the individuals who talk diverse dialects. These days, the imperativeness of English as an international dialect reaches out a long ways past the quantity of local speakers. English as an international dialect and basic dialect helps individuals who talk diverse dialects to convey. English dialect is an intercultural method for imparting. Businessmen can utilize English as a part of their global business exercises. Specialists now can work with the individuals who talk diverse dialects by utilizing English. English helps the agents defeat the issues of intercultural correspondence in their universal business exercises. In this way, having a typical dialect is an essential fundamental condition for international business. Today, the greater part of South America is Spanish-talking, additionally, lately Spanish organizations have extended in the district, pulled in by an apparent liking with these business sectors got from a typical language (Sarala & Vaara, 2010).

ReligionsHowever, I disagreed that the system of values and beliefs portrays a culture may be encapsulated in a specific religion (Sarala & Vaara, 2010). And, in addition, religious force, religion may practice significant political force. It can structure a significant binding together drive in the public arena. In nations where religion is a significant component of the cultural environment, impact on neighborhood religious convictions and practices is especially essential in building business relations (Moran, Harris & Moran, 2011). Research has distinguished more than 15,000 unique religions and religious developments among the world’s populace (Moran, Harris & Moran, 2011). Subsequently, there are numerous individuals who have religious convictions in this world. Knowing the neighborhood religious convictions, and the business accomplices’ religious convictions well are essential for the global business.Besides, numerous cultural affiliations and political gatherings in numerous nations are regularly focused around religious affiliations. In addition, these structure a fundamental measurement of the business environment. For instance, the development of enrollment and impact of extensive places of worship in parts of the US impacts on the cultural and cultural environment of the groups in which they are placed. In the event, that there is a made religion in an area, a business must make note of its wide consequences. In the event, that there are numerous religions in areas, business as a decent corporate native ought, not to segregate (Hofstede, 2010). Knowing the business accomplice’s religious convictions well will help to attain to great results. Don’t have the foggiest idea about the business accomplice’s religious convictions well may prompt the disappointment of your business.

Organizational CultureFrom the study of I noted that the negative impact on the execution of international joint wander begins more from differences in a hierarchical culture than from differences in national culture. Also, from the study of (Hofstede, 2010), i agreed with the article that when the space of a cultural gathering is closer to the quality making exercises of a cooperation, authoritative culture differences between the accomplices’ parts of that cultural gathering will be more problematic than national culture differences. Along these lines, from the study of (Cantwell, Dunning & Lundan, 2010) and the study of (Sarala & Vaara, 2010), we can realize that business culture has more effect on the international business.

Hierarchical culture is vital for the global businessConsequently, with a specific end goal to talk about how the way of life differences impacts the global business, I must comprehend what authoritative culture is. From (Jewels & Albon, 2013), hierarchical culture or corporate culture, in the same way as national culture, concentrates on qualities, standards and behavioral examples imparted by the Association. An authoritative culture is one that is deliberately cultivated among representatives, who may have arrived at the organization from an assortment of diverse cultural foundation. I disagree with the idea of the article that attributes of a hierarchical culture incorporate that, for instance, normal dialect, imparted phrasing, standards of conduct, and predominant estimations of the association. Hofstede (2010) said that though national culture relates principally to profound situated qualities, hierarchical culture relates fundamentally to imparted convictions in authoritative practices and methods

Professional cultureFrom (Hofstede (2010), I realize that Professional cultures create through the culturalization. People get the culturalization amid their preparation and word related instruction. At that point, this culturalization will be strengthened by the public’s proficient encounters and collaborations that prompt an expansive understanding of how their occupation ought to be directed. In addition, Trice and Beyer (1993) said that Professional cultures structure as individuals, who compass singular businesses, impart a set of standards, qualities and convictions identified with their occupation. Moran, Harris & Moran (2011) exploration discoveries recommends that Professional culture differences are regularly the most significant and notable cultural differences that the interfacing representatives face, and accordingly Professional culture differences are the most troublesome to the organization togetherness viability in attaining to its value making exercises

ConclusionThis essay talked the reliability of how the way of life effect on the global business. In addition, this paper talked about how the way of life differences impact the universal business focused on three fundamental readings: (Moran, Harris & Moran, 2011), the study of (Hofstede, 2010) and the study of (Jiménez et al. 2010). In the wake of examining how the way of life differences impact the universal business, we realize that:A universal collusion’s execution is determined by the partnership’s liability in attaining to its essential worth making exercises. Additionally, asset complementarity between accomplices of global cooperation is regularly a vital condition to enhance this quality creation. So as to impart, join and power correlative assets, the accomplices’ representatives must collaborate successfully. Although, national and authoritative culture differences between these workers influence their collaborations. In this way, accomplices’ cultural differences may have more impact on the execution of international partnership as those distinctions get to be all the more straightforwardly identified with the cooperation’s essential quality making exercises.Attaining to an effective result will rely on upon impact to differences in cultures between accomplices. This implies the impact to differences in standards of conduct; worth frameworks and dialects between the accomplices will impact the achievement or disappointment of a venture. Hence, culture differences can specifically impact the achievement or disappointment of a task.Cultural differences come from national, hierarchical and Professional cultures. The distinctions in national, hierarchical and Professional culture can repress global cooperation accomplices’ workers’ capacity to collaborate viably.Differences in national culture lead to the absence of imported standards and worth. The absence of imparted qualities and standards may decrease successful correspondence, trust and learning imparting in the international business. Additionally, this absence of basic comprehension may undermine the accomplices’ understanding of one another’s vital purpose, which is critical in international markets and businesses. All these issues have been found to prompt bring down the execution of the international business. Hence, differences in national culture can disturb joint effort and adapt between accomplices of the Universal partnership. In some condition, differences in national culture can prompt abnormal state correspondence and a more managed joint effort between the accomplices. Differences in national culture additionally have a decent and positive effect on the international business. Accordingly, differences in national culture can likewise be valuable for the international business.Knowing and comprehension the accomplice’s dialect culture well is additionally imperative for international business. In nations where religion is a significant component of the cultural environment, impact on nearby religious convictions and practices is especially imperative in building business relations. At the point when the space of a cultural gathering is closer to the worth making exercises of a union, authoritative culture differences between the accomplices’ parts of that cultural gathering will be more troublesome than national culture differences. Accordingly, the negative impact on the execution of universal joint wander begins more from differences in a hierarchical culture than from differences in national culture. Besides, distinctive hierarchical cultures in the middle of acquirer and target could abatement top managers’ uplifting mentality around the merger and diminishing their participation. Authoritative culture is imperative for the accomplishment of mergers and acquisitions.Professional cultures structure as individuals, who compass singular businesses, impart a set of standards, qualities and convictions identified with their occupation. Professional culture differences are regularly the most applicable and remarkable culture differences that the collaborating workers face, and consequently Professional culture differences are the most problematic to the collusion’s adequacy in attaining to its essential worth making exercises.

Some suggestion for the international business which reside at the confluence of different culturesCantwell, Dunning & Lundan (2010) said that in the global environment, a polycentric methodology will make it less demanding for the international business to adjust to the diverse culture situations of remote operations. (Cantwell, Dunning & Lundan, 2010) Additionally said that joint wanders are a decent approach to making international business connections fruitful. In addition, cultures are not settled and static. Cultures can change. Hence, businesses ought to be equipped for change as they extend universally because there are connections in the middle of cultures and development of international markets and international brands.References

Long Walk to Freedom in South Africa, Apartheid

Introduction

Essentially the book Long Walk to Freedom portrays Nelson Mandela’s life, beginning from his early days through to his rise as the president of South Africa.  It is fundamentally a broad look into a freedom fighter’s life. Like most prominent figures, it is a wonderful narrative about the success of the human spirit. According to the story, it is evident that Mandela is the most unlikely person to rise to be the president of South Africa. Having been born into an disadvantaged family, he fights against all odds all through his entire life. In 1952, Mandela started the original non-Anglo Saxon law firm in the country at the pinnacle of Apartheid.  According to the book, Mandela committed his life to confront the injustices in hi country. In the narrative it is clear that through Mandela’s determination, in addition the fortitude of other persons, that the aspirations of millions of his countrymen are realized. Although it is practically a long walk to freedom, the reader learns that the journey was worthwhile in order to realize the aspirations of a cohesive South Africa.

APARTHEID

According to Mandela, apartheid is the epithet of the racialism, inhumanity and repression of all preceding white supremacist establishments. In order to see the factual face of apartheid one ought to look underneath the shroud of constitutional formulas, illusory phrases as well as playing with terminology. The distinctiveness of apartheid was its postulation that society is a entirely synthetic structure, that the economic base is as compliant as the political super-structure. Apartheid has isolated South Africans in a social context with numerous Whites only warnings. Apartheid denied the black South Africans freehold occupancy in the metropolitan areas and devised obscure laws to accentuate their status as transitory sojourners. However, this permitted the White economy greedily exploit them as it needed. These inconsistencies within apartheid lead at some period to conflict, and probably to the collapse of the regime by consent. The upshot of the inconsistencies as well as conflicts within the apartheid constitution was a discursive protracted lamentation discourse exhibited through extraordinary control of the tyrant’s language. Consequently, authorities of Mandela and like minded individuals, institutions and organizations, anti-apartheid jeremiads were fundamentally affected by an assortment of intellectual and social revolutions in the country.

There are numerous facets of Mandela’s personality that the reader gradually learns concerning Mandela. These include his passion for knowledge, commitment, and conviction to what he believed in. Mandela was apathetic to enroll in the armed wing which comprised of African National Congress (ANC) Youth wing. Once he was convinced to join in the struggle Mandela was passionate to his new vocation. It is noteworthy that his meeting with Walter Sisulu, another icon in 1940s prompted a companionship that lased 60 years through trials, jail and freedom. It is evident that Mandela’s believed that guerilla combat is at times necessary, in order to convey the message across to the populace. This is in spite of the fact that a lot of people relate him to an icon of peace. Mandela recognized that it was the prerogative of the ‘non-European liberation movement,’ that sought the absolute abandonment of White supremacy, to influence the unwavering and firm mass struggle to overcome fascism as well as the founding of democratic structures of government. His anti-apartheid jeremiads demonstrate his confidence that blacks South Africans must unite for the sake of national reconciliation in order to build a fresh South Africa. His jeremiads lamented the lack of togetherness and humanity.

Fall of Apartheid. According to the book, apartheid was denounced by black South Africans, as well as several black political factions that were usually supported by a number of compassionate whites South Africans. In the late 1980’s, negotiations for the release of Mandela began to shape. The early 1990’s, marked the commencement of the closing stages for apartheid. The then president Frederik de Klerk effectively started to dismantle apartheid. This is seen when Frederik de Klerk lifted the 30-year proscription on the principal anti-apartheid faction, the African National Congress (ANC), the smaller South African Communist Party, and the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC). In 1990 the National Party government devoted itself to streamlining South Africa and the previously proscribed black congresses, as well as the releasing of jailed black political leaders. In 1994, the South Africa’s constitution was revised and free general elections held for the first instance in South Africa’s history.

On assuming the post as the first elected black president, he assumed a courageous innovative step. In his opening address, Mandela noted that the people of South Africa should work together, in order to attain national reconciliation, greater nation building, as well as for the dawn of a new world. This exposed an anti-apartheid jeremiad discourse in the black community in South Africa. This was traditionally typified by a steadfast rejection to adjust to apartheid’s perspectives, designated a complex letdown of the conventional order.

Lundbeck Korea

Lundbeck is a leading pharmaceutical company dealing with central nervous drugs with regional centers in various countries including Korea. Jin-Ho Jun is the head of Lundbeck Korea and has very close ties with Korean medical officials. He leads a team of Korea-centric that is vastly different than cooperate controls but they are flexible and have enough freedom that they have been able to outperform other competitors in Korea. Jin-Ho Jun and Asif Rajar had a falling out because Rajar wanted to introduce Lexapro replacing it with Cipram but Jun wanted to do this later. There were also differences regarding marketing resources as they could not decide expenditure on doctors to build relationship and if the products needed to be marketed to first tier doctors all doctors. In order to avoid a fall out, it is important that both of these parties come to an understanding.

Devising a win-win solution may be difficult because both of these organizational leaders understand the decisions they are making. However, it is important for Jun to have more freedom in conducting Lundbeck Korea considering that he understands culture of the business in this location and knows the ways of other pharmaceutical business thus knows if introduction of drug now will do fairly good or not. Rajar should however still be given authority to oversee operations in Asia region. The main point of contention between the two parties on business vs. the culture. Lundbeck Korea is likely to thrive on transitional structure where they are allowed to maintain the brand image as well as core values. They should however be given flexibility whereby they are able to develop their own method and time frame as their decisions will be influenced by social, political and economic factors in Korea.

Conflict often arise due to lack of proper communication. Regional office headed by Rajar should have proper communication with the Korea office. Decision should not be made on one end i.e. regional office and Korean office forced to implement rather it should be a lengthy process of consultation and discussion until a reasonable decision is arrived at. Cohesive meetings will also serve as a great way of ensuring that regional branch and country branch are on the same page. All frontline managers should be able to outline challenges faced and give feedback on the response by the teams or what may have been omitted. Andersen needs to also define the roles of Rajar the regional manager as well as the roles of Jun. There should be less degree of control and supervision from the regional office. There can also be re-arrangement of reporting structure with a much less stringent management as Jun needs to feel as if he is not being micromanaged. With a balance of both globalization as well as localization met by the company the two leaders are likely to agree.

My Story: Who I am, How I became Me, Life experiences that shaped the person I am and the way I see and Interact with humanity around me

Introduction

This paper posits to explain who I am, how I become me, and the life experiences that shaped the person I am, as well as the way I see and interact with humanity around me. I am a young man of Chinese origin who at one time in my upbringing, I lived in China prior to joining the University. I come from a humble family, and I have a younger brother who seeks inspiration from me. In this paper I will illustrate how my father influenced me as a leader in an investment company that he owns. I draw a lot of inspiration from my father since I have seen him build his investment company from scratch. My father is literally my mentor and role model since he has demonstrated to us, as his family, how to stay focused even in periods of turmoil. Prior to leaving China, my father was a bank manger in one of the leading banks in china. However, due to diverse reasons related to the political climate in China, our family left in some unclear circumstances. This meant that my father’s entire life savings and property in China was lost and he had to start from scratch. Upon entering this country, my father maneuvered his way and started an investment company with the help of some old friends. Today he is my inspiration as I pursue my studies looking forward to a successful life in the future.

ROLE MODELS

Role models are extremely vital psychologically for individuals, in that they help in guiding these individuals in the course of life throughout their development. This helps in making essential decisions that influence the outcome of people’s lives, and to help in finding happiness in life. As a person grows they search for role models for insight and utilize this as an outline for how they ought to behave when they are older. This is probably a survival activity designed to assist people to imitate the traits of successful members of the society and thus help them in being successful too. In addition, it’s considered that in later life, a person’s happiness is based on their perception of how their life ought to or can be and the breach between that, and the way it is in actuality. In other words, it means striving for similar success as well as achieving it that causes happiness or frustration when people grow older. This is referred to as actualization.

Role models are regularly considered to be essential to the successful progress of youthful aspiring managers. It is essential to note that, role models are individuals whose attributes, styles, and behaviors are emulated by other people. In contrast to mentors, who are usually close, since they are personally known in interactive relationships with the young person, role models usually are not familiar with the user of the role model, nor do they offer their consent to be used in this manner. For this reason, role models could be close or remote to the user of the role model. The theory of social learning is useful in illustrating how role modeling operates. People monitor the conduct of others in certain situations, and observe the outcomes of the conduct. Consequently, they employ this knowledge to form their own behavior in comparable contexts with anticipation of similar results. They are socialized into an approval of the abilities, values, expected behaviors as well as social knowledge requisite for their new responsibilities, mainly in organizational life. In the course of emulation of monitored behaviors as well as career paths of the role models, the youthful managers as well as professionals perform their new responsibilities.

Role models might be current leaders in a range of fields, who exhibit certain behaviors, qualities, attitudes, and characteristics, that are inspirational to other people as models for the successful assimilation of self and new careers.

My Father as My Mentor and Role Model. There is usually one person in every person’s life that forms their strength of character. There is usually one individual who offers a person courage, guidance, and wisdom. For most people there is usually someone is their lives that inspires them and makes them desire to be better individuals. All people have role models or mentors in their lives, somebody that they can draw inspiration from, and proudly say why they do. That individual in my life is my father. He is my mentor, as well as my role model. My father always inspires me to prosper, to succeed, to live and love. My father is the reason that I am the individual I am at the moment. A role model is somebody who continues to thrust us towards greatness. This is prominence in us, as well as prominence in this harsh world. Role models have an enormous burden on them, so it is an achievement for them to recognize that the people whom they influence have done something that gratifies them. Role models effortlessly assume the role of heroes in people’s lives. It would be fitting to share what a sensation it is to confidently declare that my father is actually my hero. He gives me confidence to succeed, and he narrates to me real life stories derived from his experiences. He offers me the necessary advice I require exactly at the time I require it in order to thrive. He is the individual that makes everything perfect for me. In the event that I have experienced a terrible day, it takes is his influence to get the encouragement that I require. In the event that I accomplish something in life, feel compelled to share it with my father since he is the person who gave me the inspiration to do it in the first place.

CONCLUSION

Because of my father, I will always endeavor to be better in my life. My father is intelligent, outstanding, honest and wholesome. When I require something put in the appropriate perspective I pursue his opinion. I adore my father, instead of something unachievable or misinterpreted by the media. I acknowledge that I require something concrete in my life to steer me in the appropriate direction. My father is proud of me for what I have achieved as well as, the manner in which I share the joy and cheerfulness that he has instilled in me, as well as the people around me. That is an illustration of how my father has influenced me to becoming a better person. Looking at my father, I now realize that leaders always develop leaders. Prudent leaders like my father acknowledge that the imperative responsibility they have of developing upcoming leaders.

Narcissism: A critical analysis in the story The Necklace

Abstract

When it comes to social classes, it is necessary to appreciate current personal status. This is grounded on the perception that material wealth does not define the character; for instance, wisdom but they are just add-endives to luxuries. In any case, man makes his life significant to by being positive and selfless. This essay will attempt prove how narcissism is primarily responsible in nurturing prolonged years of pain. The essay will discuss Guy Demaupassant short story The necklace. The paper is structured into two main parts, the literature concept and the opinion analysis. The literature concept close examines the plot, characterization and the central theme of narcissism. The second section examines my opinion on the text. Primarily, this is a responsive section that seeks to give attributes on what could have been done. The paper will heavily relate the importance of the necklace to plot development.

Literature Concept

Plot

The necklace short story by Guy Demaupassant tells a predicament of Madam Mathilde Loisel and her husband. Madam Mathilde socially altered herself, and these alterations led to herself believe that she belonged to a high social position. Monsieur Loisel, a lowly paid clerk, is integrated in the story by his constant effort to provide lavish material things to his wife. After securing an invitation to the Ministry of Education party, Monsieur Loisel finds himself in a dilemma to convince his wife to attend the party. Madam Mathilde declines to attend the party claiming she did not have something good to wear. As a result, Monsieur Loisel offers her 400 francs ‘money reserved to buy a hunting rifle’ to buy a dress for his wife. However, her need for material possession does not rest until she borrows a necklace to cream the dressing. This is after Madam Mathilde rejection of his husband offer that she should buy roses to cream the dress. Mathilde borrows Madam Forestre for her fanciest piece of ornament, a fine looking piece of diamond necklace. After the party, Mathilde realizes the necklace was missing. This prompts her desire to look elegant, and as a result, she decided to replace it with a similar one costing 36,000 francs. Loisel family never had sufficient saving for such a large material investment. As a consequence, the family indulgence with aid from loans shark to repay the ornaments is incidental. This marks the beginning of a long financial struggle for the Loisels. After the reparation, Madam Mathilde pounces on Madam Forestre. Apparently, Madam Forestre barely recognizes the degenerated state of Madam Mathilde. After catching up with events of the last decade, Madam Mathilde learns that the original necklace was an imitation costing less than one thousand francs.

Characterization

Mathilde Loisel

A newly wed lady who was born in the family of clerks is married to a clerk. Mathilde conviction of that her current state in life is a mistake of destiny prompts her constant revolt of her social and economic situation. The audience learns from the story that her revolt challenges her present state of affairs, a comfortable home and loving husband. Mathilde material greed is a constant ground for pain and turmoil. The audience learns from the text that Mathilde cannot visit her wealthy friend Forestre because of jealousy. Mathilde constantly denounces destiny, referring to it as a mistake.

Monsieur Loisel

It is clear from the story that Monsieur Loisel is loving, compassionate, and had a strong sense of emotional flare-up as well as constant dis-contention. Also, an eminent character of Monsieur Loisel is his determination to please his wife. Primarily, Monsieur Loisel is supportive his wife materialistic driven agenda. On several occasions, he bails out her material urge without rumination of the financial repercussions associated with it. Monsieur Loisel sacrifices his hunt gun dream to buy one night dress for his wife. Also, it is coherent to note that Monsieur Loisel is sacrificial, protective. When his wife looses the necklace, Monsieur Loise commits himself to a series of reparations hoping this will quench his urge to please her. Finally, it is prudent to note that Monsieur Loise character is gullible. This is based on the knowledge that she agrees to live the life of his wife uncontrollable urge for materials without a second thought.

Theme of Narcissism

In a close reading of Guy Demaupassant short story, one will not fail to notice the overriding theme of social pride and greed. Scholarly, Mathilde character can be defined as one grounded on excessive self-regard. Primarily, it is self regard that leads to the development of unrighteous character. Also, Mathilde suffers superiority complex. This character lead to the development of defense mechanism, and it is chiefly responsible for the development of psychic complexities that can exist within the same individual. Mathilde ultimately believes she is superior compared to others. In any case, she believes right to material possessions is inherent. Core concerns of her personhood are centered on the image and vanity. The innate character attempts to prove its righteousness to the society surrounding it. Whether good or bad that is not part of questioning, to this effect, Mathilde suffers feelings of inadequacy both in character and materials. So to it, Mathilde believes that her life is significant since her beauty and charm make her worthy of materials. The acquisition of Madame Forestier Necklace acts the dramatic turn of events. The necklace is responsible in exposing Mathilde characters. However, it is prudent to note that the author applied the element of emotional consciousness to implement the theme of materials in the story. Emotionally, Mathilde, due to her beauty and charm, muses herself as a martyr. She constantly refers herself with Rue des Martyrs, and in any case, she feels that the life she lives is unbecoming, impractical and inhumane for her personality. As a result, Mathilde hires a necklace to attend a party. Later, Mathilde discovers the necklace is lost, and she has to repay it with 36,000 francs. This not only cost her ten years of reparation but relegates her social prestige adversely.

Opinion

What is the moral of the story?

Scholarly, it is prudent to note that the material affiliation to the necklace attempts to expose the peril of personal narcissism. Materially derived egotism is primarily responsible of drenching Mathilde family to quench her desires. For instance, Mathilde engineered the decision to spend the family spending on a dinner gown. This perception is immoral and disastrous for a growing family. We learn from the story that Mathilde came from a class of clerks. So, there is no justification that Mathilde was not in a position to live a comfortable life, a life that accesses amenities; for example, food and clothing. However, Mathilde affection to material possession was constraining collective efforts of the family. The extract tells us that Mathilde could not focus anything beyond the ball and the ‘greatest night of her life’. The moral-dramatic concept is failure to concede defeat. Mathilde losses the necklace, yet her narcissism could not permit her to admit the loss of the necklace to the owner. This not only subjects the Loisels to year of repayment, but as well painful knowledge that the repatriated necklace was not worth. The moral lesson generated here is beauty does not guarantee wisdom. In any case, application of beauty for material quest is righteous, barbaric and deconstructive. This not only exposes an individual to the harshness of the society, but as well entangles relatives and friends of the victim to the wrath of narcissism.

Is the course of action righteous?

Still on the concept of morality, it is inherently barbaric to commence a repayment of an item which is not worth than the estimated value. However, it is prudent to establish in this discussion that the couple choice for repayment had positive and negatives. Firstly, it is gullible to repay a friend an item whose does not have a valid receipt. Nonetheless, this is contested by the assumption that couple prevailed on the need to tame Mathilde character. Morally, it is righteous to tame Mathilde character. This is based on the postulation that Mathilde character was unbecoming for the social income. Nevertheless, Madam Forestre does not demand a payment because they need an actual financial repayment, but the desire to protect their class exceeded the friendship they shared with Mathilde. This can be debated on the notion that the perceived rich in the society are not that rich, and in any case, these are just deconstructive social affiliations. According to the story, Mathilde life is robbed without apology or notice. Just as an example, the Loisel family dismisses the maid, Mathilde cannot apply the laundry, and in any case, she takes blue-collar jobs to raise sufficient money to repay the loan sharks. The repayment of the money cannot be converted fully the real money pay, but a repayment of how Mathilde applied beauty to work out her life. Consequently, I would join the couple desire to demand a repayment based on the knowledge family needs came first compared to social affiliations. Mathilde had traditionally sacrificed her family to quench her inherent material demand. In any event, the repayment of the necklace acts as a life synthesizer on the need to work constructively to achieve a given social foundation in life.

What other choices were open to them and why were these not chosen?

There were broad choices to be pursued when the necklace got lost. However, this would deter the development of the plot significantly. In any case, the message that Guy Demaupassant wants the audience to learn is blended in the necklace getting lost. Primarily, the couple could have reconsidered searching for the necklace a viable option. This alternative could have required attending party members to act collectively in reallocating the lost necklace. Secondly, there was an alternative of forgiving Mathilde from paying the necklace. As a friend, losing a necklace was normal; therefore, it was constructive to move forward with a spirit of reconciliation. Thirdly, Madam Forestier could have settled the matter humanly. She was obliged to clarify the real value of the necklace, and inversely demand the equivalent amount. However, according to the extract the real value of the necklace is exaggerated. Clarifying the real value of the necklace could have saved Loisel family from ten years of misery. Nonetheless, the central theme of the story could not have been established. As a result, the repayment acts to fulfill the central theme of the story. To affirm the importance of the repayment, one should look closely on the results of the repayment. Mathilde a lavish minded individual has been structured to work hard to meet demands of the repayment. As a result, Mathilde perception of a lavish life is restructured to those with consideration of working to achieve a good life, a life without extreme poverty or extreme wealth. This discussion contests the conjecture that Mathilde ten years is wasted. The underlying reason is that Mathilde perception is changed. In any case, the repayment acts as rejuvenating learning period. After ten, years Mathilde perception is restructured to believe that she can achieve much of she worked for it.

Conclusion

This essay has attempted to close examine the theme of narcissism and how it is primarily responsible in subjecting a material lady into years of financial bondage. The paper has borrowed deeply on Guy Demaupassant short story. The necklace presents how narcissism works. To accomplish the educative analysis, I have presented my opinion; what should have been done and the moral story behind the story. The paper has as well close examined the importance of the necklace to the plot.
