Nursing which is my major actually requires a degree in order for one to be successful. Nursing being a very sensitive profession that involves interaction with so many people, nurses who eventually graduate should be properly equipped with necessary knowledge. In nursing ever single unit consists of goals, behavior, media, and previous knowledge of content and knowledge evaluation. Practical subjects in nursing will need practical approach h and probably repetition in order for everyone to understand. For example, use of mannequins in teaching students on how to dress wounds (Lisko, pg. 106-108). Nursing requires one to go through a process as eventually as a graduate you will get to deal with human lives and without sufficient knowledge one may not be able to eventually help a patient or may cost someone their life.

Patient safety is usually placed as the first reason why a nursing student needs higher education. A nursing student will be required to take units such as anatomy and physiology and the best way to get this knowledge is from school. They need to understand how the different body parts works in our systems from a single tissue to an organ system. Without a basic understanding of the human physiology and anatomy a student is highly likely to mess up. Nurse primary rose is monitor patient’s response to medication and treatment. These nurses need to have an understanding on the medication, their pharmacokinetics and their mode of actions. At times a patient may be allergic to certain drugs and it is important for a nurse to be able to identify that and provide an alternative medicine. The only way a nurse will be able to get all this information that will be useful in her profession is getting higher education (Aliakbari, pg. 106).

Professionalism is another reason why a nurse needs a degree. Nurses interacts with all sorts of people in their profession and they need to know how to handle these individuals for example there will always be cases of patient and heath professional such as nurse confidentiality. At times there are very sensitive matters that a patient may reveal to a nurse and ask him or her not to tell anyone anything. Such cases may include instances of rape or domestic violence. There is code of ethics that apply in the medical profession including guiding principles; autonomy, justice, beneficence, and non-maleficence (Jonsen, Siegler and Winslade 2). When a health profession does not understand these principles in place they may find themselves being sued which may affect their career. There are technical machines also employed in hospitals that nurses need to use such as MRI machines, life support machines, x-ray among others. Without a degree or a higher education, they may not be able to understand how to operate these machines.

Nursing teaching has to be both disruptive and deterrent impacts of environmental factors on the learning process and leads to both equality and justice in learning. In nursing education one can acquire skills through performing practical procedures that requires one to attend classes for example learning how to inject a person or learning how to stitch up wounds. The framework or theory that would best suit a theoretical class will be different theory in a practical or different class. The best way professors could apply the different nursing theories is by examining the curriculum in hand, the students as well as the environment ensuring they grasp the necessary content.

Introduction

According to Joseph Campbell Monomyth stages of a hero, they can be summarized as journeys that involve the mythical spirits that carry the human life forward. S the paper will demonstrate in the life Odysessy, the journey takes the form of ancient Greek heroes such as the Spartans, Perseus, Hercules and the contemporary tales of Star Wars. The Monomyth stages have been used stories and in film productions to described the tales of the ancient heroes. As will be explained in the paper, the main characters have mystical backgrounds such as their parents being a god and a human being. At their birth, they are often unaware of their surrounding and all the danger that looms on their lands, and some live almost an unrecognized lives, insofar they may not be aware of who their parents were. They are reluctant at first to accept that they have a different fate from others until a tragedy strike in their homes, and when summoned to prove their worthiness in an effort to identify those who will lead in the battle, they first have to endure dangerous adventures. During these adventures, the heroes go through treacherous paths such as fighting mythical creatures and the tricks from evil women-who often know their destiny and therefore, attempt to distract them from completing their tests (Campbell 27).

It is at the time when the main characters defeat the dangerous journeys that they are recognized as candidates for the journey. Notably, the Monomyth stages cannot be complete without involving the help from gods. In a summary, the stages become complete when the main character is sent on a final mission, where the gods bless him with weapons with magical powers, and sometimes he has to take other dangerous adventure to acquire the remaining weapons, before he sets for the final mission. After the victory from the battlefield, the hero is praised by his people and bequeathed a beautiful princess to marry. Although there are different stages that have been used in stories and in film productions to describe the lives of the main protagonists, the basic pattern of their adventures revolves around, mystical births, treacherous adventures, magical weapons, temptations to their downfalls, overcoming the thresholds and eventually, victory (Campbell 56).

Odyessy Monomyth

According to Joseph Campbell mmonomyth stages, the hero undergoes seventeen stages in order to complete his quest and which have been summarized into three broad categories. These categories include departure, initiation and return. Under these categories, there are other subcategories which will be identified and discussed below.

Departure

Call to Adventure

At this stage, the protagonist is in a boring situation in which there are obstacles that prevent him from setting off to him people. In some cases, it can be the supernatural powers that prevent him from setting off to his mainland, or he may be held captive by the gods for his wrongful deed in an unknown land. During this stage, the people from his home place experience a lot of problems but unfortunately, he is nowhere to help or rescue them. In the story of Odyesseus, for example, we are let know that he had been held as a sex captive in the island of goddess Kalypso. In additional, the angry sea god, Poseidon, refuses to let him go home. As the story unfolds, we can see the Odyesseus adventure starts as a mere blunders, in an eye catching phenomena that strays him from his path (Lombardo 3).

Refusal of the Call

Often, when the hero is summoned, he refuses to heed the call for many reasons. Some of the reasons include the failure to accept an obligation, s sense of inadequacy, fear, insecurity or any other forms of impediments that may be holding the hero his current circumstances. One of the encounters of Odyessues that we learn could be the part of the reasons he continues to stay in the island is the fear that he might be killed when he gets home on the allegations that he killed King Agamemnon, the brother to Menelaos. It this fun story that raises the question Odyesseus will be killed for the King’s death, and explains as his reason for staying at the island; because of the fear of being killed (Lombardo 10).

Supernatural Aid

As soon as the hero accepts his obligation and commits himself to the quest, he starts receiving magical help, both consciously and unconsciously, and at this point, the present of the supernatural aid becomes known. The supernatural aid normally appears in the form of talisman or artifacts which are intended to help the hero in his later quest. Upon Mt. Olympus where the gods stay, the goddess Athena, asks her father to have mercy on Odyesseus. When Odyesseus sails across the sea in a raft, homesick as he sets off, Poseidon, the god of the seas sends a storm to destroy Odyessues ship. Athena upon seeing Poseidon wrath upon Odyesseus, she intervenes to save him. When Odyessues visits the witch-goddess Circe, he is given a drug called Moly by Hermes, so as to protect him from Circe’s magic.

Crossing the Threshold

Crossing the threshold involves the hero passing from the world he knows, into a world where the limits and the dangers remain unknown. In this adventure, the hero has to fight dangerous battles with spirits and creatures that do not exist in the realms of the human life. After Odyessues and his twelve ships were swerved off course by the storms, they are visited by lethargic Lotus-Eaters, and captured by Cyclops Polyphemus while on his island. Polyphemus starts eating Odyessues men. In order to escape, they fools Cyclops by giving him wine so that he could go to sleep, and later, tries to escape when Odyesseus tells Polyphemus of his identity. Unfortunately, Aeolus, the master of the winds, gives Odyesseus a bag containing winds that could swerve him to all directions, except the east west wing that could take the home to Ithaca. While pleading in vain to Aeolus so that he could help him again, the encountered cannibalistic Laestrygonians. When he sails to the witch-goddess Circe, she turns them into swine after they are fed with wine and cheese (Lombardo 140).

Belly of the Whale

At this stage, the hero accepts to be separated from his known world and the self. When the hero is in this stage, he reveals his willingness to change. Guided by Circe’s instructions, Odyesseus summons the spirits of Tiresias to advise him. Later, he learns through the spirit of his mother, who had died during his long absence, that there is a plan to overthrow him in his household by the greedy Penelopes suitors. It is at his point that Odyesseus decided to return to his household and challenge the traitors. He also awakens from temptations of Circe’s love affection and decides to reclaim his wife (Lombardo 160).

Initiation

The Roads of Trails

The road of trails included the numerous tasks, tests and ordeal that the hero has to encounter in order to complete his metamorphosis or the transformation. During this stage, the hero often fails one or several of these tests, which are presented in threes. The witch goddess Circe is an example of a test that Odyesseus faces when he is making a resolution to return home to his wife. Circe turns his men into swine as a test to prevent him from leaving. Inclined with her love for Odyessues and the jealous to precede his wife, she tries to drug him with the Moly drug. Eventually, Odyesseus passes the test by remaining persistence in his love for his wife and does not fallen into temptations. Because of her love for him, Circe accepts to free him (Lombardo 165).

Meeting with the Goddess

The stage is important because love that is described to have the power and the significance that is above the all-powerful. The love is often unconditional and encompassing like the one an infant may experience with his or her mother. The meeting with the goddess stage has been considered to be the most important step in the transformation of the hero since it is at this stage that he finds the woman that he truly loves. Form Odyesseus story, he realizes that he had an unconditional love for his wife, Penelope and his son, Telemachus (Lombardo 170).

Woman of Temptress

At this stage, the heroes normally encounter temptations which are usually in physical or pleasurable forms, so that they may abandon their quests. The temptations may not necessarily be represented by women; instead, in the encounters of the hero knight who faces spiritual journey, a woman can be a metaphor representing the pleasures that should obstruct his from his mission. The metaphor hold true in Odyesseus tale. When they landed on the Island of Thrinacia, the Odyessues men ignore the warning from Circe and Tiresias and they are obstructed by their temptation to hunt the sacred cattle of Helios, the sun god. Helios tells Zeus, the god of all gods, to punish Odyesseus and his men, or else, he would shine the sun in the underworld. Taking Helios’ demands, Zeus caused a shipwreck during the thunderstorm that left the men drowning (Lombardo 210).

Atonement with the father

In this stage, the hero must be confronted or initiated by a figure that holds the ultimate power in his life. In many mythical stories, this is often the father, or a father figure who possesses the power of life and death. Despite this step have been associated with the encounter with a male, it does not necessarily have to be men. In Odyesseus tale, Athena, who is a goddess that has the ultimate power of life and death, disguises him as an old beggar so that he can learn how things have been going on at his house (Lombardo 216).

Apotheosis

At this stage, the protagonist may die physically, live in spirit or die in self, or beyond the views of the opposites into a state of love, compassion, knowledge and bliss. A more critical way of looking at his is that time when the hero is in peace or fulfillment before the return. For instance, Odyesseus who is still a beggar endures insults hurled against him from his suitors. He knows that in his disguised form, he is in peace and having an opportunity to learn everything before he reveals his true identity (Lombardo 217).

The Ultimate Boon

At this stage, the hero completes his quest. It is the stage where what he went to get is revealed. Penelope organizes an archery contest for whoever wins; she promises that he would marry her. All except Odyesseus win the contest and reclaims his household (Lombardo 220).

Return

Refusal of the Return

Having experienced the adventures, the enlightenment and bliss from the other world, the hero may not want to accept the new world and restore the benefits onto his fellow men. Odyesseus still shares the memories of his romantic adventure with the witch goddess Circe, the thoughts of the island they were trapped are still fresh in his mind. He had not completely accepted that he was home (Lombardo 230).

The Magic Flight

Sometime the hero returns home with boon from the adventurous world, which had been jealously guarded god. In Odyessues story, there is no clear indication of an object he obtained from the gods and which he still possesses when he return home (Lombardo 233).

Rescue from Without

Same way the hero requires assistants and guided during his quest, he also requires rescuers to bring them back to everyday life. Odyesseus congratulates the men who fought by his side and promises to work with them and earn a normal living (Lombardo 240).

Crossing of the Return Threshold

The stage involves returning with a new wisdom from the adventure, and the trick to integrate in the everyday life. Odyesseus manages to do this by revelaing to his wife that despite his estranged adventures, he remembers little details such as his bed could not be moved since one of its legs were from a live olive tree (Lombardo 300).

Master of Two Worlds

The stage involve being able to balance the spiritual world and the real world. Odyesseus finally lives in peace by devoting himself to work as a famer since it gave him the opportunity to have the inner peace and unconditional love to be with his family (Lombardo 310).

Freedom to Live

The person lives without the fear that he can die. In this stage, the person is considered to be living at the moment, neither referring to the future nor the past. Odyesseus lives happily by acknowledging that his love for his wife was the most important thing (Lombardo 350).

Conclusion

In can be seen that Joseph Campbell stages of monomyth depict a heroic story where the main characters encounter magic, evil, treachery, entrapments, tests, temptations finally the victory of their quests. In all these stages, the hero portray bravely or strength.

Words are used to construct meaningful sentences known as phrases. The use of a word is essential in any language due to the feelings, emotions and descriptions it relays. Over the years, different words have been prone to change due to the change in different aspects of life. The English language is one of the dialects that are affected by this change. The change of words to different meanings, forms pronunciations is known as peroration. A majority of the words in the English language are subject to this process making them have different meanings as a result. The word “Artificial” is an adjective that is one of the words that showcase the level at which words acquire different meanings. The analysis of the word is thus ideal in that it explains the various forms the word takes when speaking the English language.

The focus of this paper is to provide an analysis of the word artificial. The paper looks at the origin of the word and the changes it has gone through over the years. The paper provides various aspects of the word such as the pronunciation, earlier forms of spellings and the metamorphosis of the word in all aspects. The paper does this through the use of examples to provide a better understanding of the explanations. The paper finally provides a concluding sentence that summarizes the content of the entire paper.

When one thinks of the word artificial, they immediately think of fake, knockoff, cheap and surreal. These definitions are far from the original definition of the word whose meaning has been interfered with over the years. The original meaning of the word artificial is belonging to art. Another obsolete meaning of the word is its role in the determination of time. The word artificial can be used to describe a part of the day. This meaning is different from the first definition and as a result displays the rate of change of the word has undergone. The use of artificial in time is used to describe the change from sunrise to sunset. An example of this word in a sentence is “This is the artificial part of the day that I am most fond of”. The two examples are both pronounced as artificially . This meaning is formed from the word “ artificialis” in the oxford dictionary.

The word began to develop into alternative forms making its meaning change. One of the definitions associated with the word is the lack of originality. During the classical era, people realized the significance of art making it an essential part of life. The society as a result placed emphasis on making imitations of art pieces that were not original. This gave the word a new meaning making it loose the dignity that it once upheld. The word original embodies features such as creativity, innovativeness and unique. All these elements were not distanced from the word artificial in that it acted as an anonym for these words. Artificial can be used to describe a by-product of an item. As stated earlier, the word has changed over the year to suite the terms of society. These produces are said to be of lesser value due to the fact that they are not innovative. The adjective therefore seeks to define products that are cheap. An example of this meaning in a sentence is “Polyester can be used to supplement silk as a material due to its artificial quality that makes it cheap” . Artificial is also used to define items, substances that are not natural. Natural is a word that comes from nature. Natural products are got from a natural source and do not have any additions. Substances that lack a natural aspect are said to be artificial in that they are not real. The adjective is mostly associated with this meaning making it different from the different examples provided in the initial definitions. Pronounced A-rt-ti-fi-cial, the word has thus developed into a meaning that bears a negative perception. People, items or services that are not real are disregarded as items of a lesser value. I am a proud member of the shoreline community college. I have successfully completed two years of my educational curriculum making me well versed in the course. I intend to acquire a degree in communication with a major in public relations. There are several advantages that I have received during my stay in shoreline community college. Seeking to transfer is therefore not based on the standards of the school but on the next level of achievement I would like to achieve.

My main aspiration in terms of my career is to become renowned public relations figure. My source of motivation for taking on public relations as a career of choice is driven by my love for self image. Communication involves the transferring messages from of person to another. Using the principles of public relations can help change the negative image of an individual. My current school offers the complete courses required to complete the course successfully. Despite this, I need a school that enhances my talents through the use of extracurricular activities, public relations programs and good references. This along with my good grades will improve my chances getting a place in a successful PR company.

I am one of the beneficiaries of the American educational system due to my transfer from Indonesia. The country offers a wide variety of opportunities which are ideal for my future objectives. My main aim is to open up my own public relations farm in the long run. This can only be achieved if I join a school that is known for its focus on the subject at hand.

Public relations is one of the branches of the communication educational curriculum. Communication is essential for the growth and sustainability of the country as a whole. There are several careers that a student can obtain through the study of communication. One of the reasons that I choose to study public relations is its impact on the society. Society is significant in that it represents the culture of the entire community. Most of the rules and regulations are determined by the culture we uphold as a community. As individuals we are obliged to act certain away so as to reflect on societal demands. Public relations ensure that people maintain the respect of the general public. Having a good reputation is ideal requirements for the success of public individual, organizations, business and institutions. It is difficult to maintain a consistent stance on an ideology. This may sometimes lead an individual to stray from the required norms and cultural aspects of the society. Some have argued that public relations improve the image of people while hiding their real intentions. This is however not the case in that public relations activities keep the behaviors of the general public in check. This in turn creates a better environment for the development and sustainability of the community. My decision to venture into this industry appeals to my personality and personal qualities. The acquisition of my own company will ensure that I contribute positively to my community. It will also serve as a leeway for the emergence of future public relations protégés. In the United States financial scams is among the leading form of cybercrime being tackled and that has also proved quite difficult to handle because of several factors. The most targeted individuals are often the senior citizens because most do not really understand technology which is often used. However, even the rest of the population may still fall into the hands of scammers. The scammers tend to use love and a mixture of fear making their targets comply and send them money. Some of these financial scams are often Ponzi investment schemes that lure people into investing their money with the hope that they will be able to gain huge dividends from the investments. There have been several investment schemes that have failed and but these schemes have been repeatedly used to swindle people off their hard earned money. There are a few things that can be done in order to prevent these financial scams.

The first recommendation is public education. Public awareness relates to routine activities theory in that people have opportunity to commit crimes thus victims should not place themselves in the situation. People need to understand how most of these financial scams works. For example, the Ponzi schemes, there several red flags that may help one identify if a said investment is a scam. The first red flag is abnormally high returns, if something is too good to be true it probably is. Although we all want money, an investment and the returns needs to have a correlation. A guaranteed return, if a person guarantees a return of your investment one needs to be skeptical as no investment is ever guaranteed. Another red flag is need for more investors thus if one asks you to get more investors or you are promised a reward for bringing in more investors then it is highly likely that it is a financial Ponzi scheme.

Aside from Ponzi schemes people should also be educated on other ways that fraudsters used to swindle money. The public should be educated on the need to safeguard one’s personal details such as PIN and passwords and should never reveal this important information on a call. No legitimate company will call and ask for passwords and pin codes. Financial scammers also often use random competition where one may receive a call that they have won something. If you do not remember participating in such a competition, then that is probably a scam. It is important for one to avoid calls that may seem as if one wants to get persona information, emails or even people who come to your door step. In case of such incidences there are numbers that can be used to call law enforcers and report such cases.

Through public education and availability of information, the public should be made aware that one should never wire any money to a stranger. One may get distress calls that they need to wire money because a loved one is sick or in jail but without verification of this information one should never send any money. Senior citizens mostly and the general public should be made aware of calls that asks of one’s social security number. The scam on Social Security number involves calls that threaten suspension of benefits or charging for services the Social Security provides for free. When one receives such a call they should report the matter immediately to the law authorities.

I believe public awareness and education is the best way one can deal with financial scams. By people being able to identify the type of financial scams that exist and the red flags to look out for then they are more likely to not fall victims.

A smartphone is a mobile phone with a more robust operating system and can connect to the Internet like a computer. A one-stop shop for information management, making or receiving calls, creating brief messages, and surfing the Internet. Many free and paid apps are available for cellphones in addition to the built-in ones. In the era of smartphones, a single-minded cell phone has been turned into a mobile PC. They’re personal digital assistants (PDAs) with all the smartphone functionality. Smartphones’ light operating systems use a touchscreen interface. The iPhone, Windows Phone, Android, and Blackberry are the four primary cellphones. A smartphone is a device that can make and receive calls. Still, it also has other features that were previously only available on personal digital assistants like the computer, such as a camera and microphone. PDAs were initially used to send and receive emails and edit workplace documents, but smartphones quickly replaced them in the market. PDAs became wireless, and mobile phones could transmit text messages simultaneously. As mobile phones have gotten more computer-like, the PDA has incorporated additional phone functionality.

It was the first time that it hit me that I needed my phone during my 8th grade year. I was at the neighboring area to our place playing football. I went to help myself to the washroom, where I locked myself in accidentally. I was forced to wait until someone else came to the washroom. After someone came and opened it for me after one hour, I thought how easy it could have been if I had a phone. I could just have asked for help just via one call. This instance hit me right that I need my phone.

With that instance, after I went home that day, I pressured my parents to buy me a phone where; they took me to a Samsung shop the next day around our neighborhood and purchased me a phone. I felt very nice because I wanted to have my phone since I usually felt that having a phone was necessary.

I have a perfect spot for my phone. My phone is my every a lot in my life revolves around it. I utilize my phone for various functions, setting reminders, alarms, playing a game such as chess, and most importantly, I use my phone to work out and network with my family and friends. In a nutshell, I guess I have become attached to my phone as a fundamental need to me; that is, I require my phone to handle many things in my life.

Marijuana is classified under a drug derived from the cannabis plant. Commonly known as weed or pot, the substance is used for a variety of purposes by the general public. Like any another drug, marijuana is listed as one of the illegal substances that effect a human beings health. Drugs are not ideal for the health of a human being. They contain substances that affect the growth and development of the human body. Drugs are associated with causing the deterioration of the function of the brain. Possession of drugs such as and meth, cocaine and can earn a person life imprisonment. This proves that using substances is not ideal for the sustainability of any society. Despite the immense disadvantages are associated with drugs, people continue to use them due to the addiction that comes with the trade (Earleywine, p. 214).

The focus of this paper is to provide an analysis of the article provided. The paper writes on the effects of marijuana and its effect of the function of the brain. The paper is seeks to summarize the contents of the article which in turn, displays an understanding of the topic at hand.

Marijuana is not as harmful as the other drugs in the market. This however does not distance it from the scrutiny that the other drugs are accustomed. Marijuana is derived from the cannabis plant that contains the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This chemical has qualities that tend to enhance relaxation of the mind which in turn improves the activity of the brain. Marijuana has been adopted by several communities due to the benefits it holds. Consumption of the drug is however considered illegal due to the addictive qualities it contains (Lasley, The Dana Foundation).

The eradication of this drug continues to get a certain amount of criticism by various organizations in the country. One of the areas that the drug is embraced is in the healthcare industry. Marijuana has healing aspects that are reflective of the function of the brain when consumed. Some of the beneficiaries of this drug are patients who suffer from chronic illnesses such as cancer, dementia and Alzheimer’s. These conditions bring distress to the health of a patient in that their body organs do not function as well. The use of marijuana for some of these conditions is considered the last resort. This indicates that the drug does indeed have a healing effect that other forms of medication cannot provide. The healing effects of marijuana are said to stimulate the functions of the nerves, the brain and the communication of the general body organs. This in turn, increases the chance of survival of patients. Some of the ways that marijuana assists in the health of patients is by reducing the level of pain. It also improves the appetite of patients who may be undergoing chemotherapy (Mack, p. 314).

One of the aspects that the drug is credited for is its ability to improve the memory of an individual. This is credited to the chemicals inhibited by cannabis. Users of the drug are reported to attain a higher response to several factors making their performance more effective. Marijuana influences the chemical messengers that are responsible for production of adrenaline in the body. It does this without interfering with the memory of the brain making a person smarter and relaxed. Students under stressful situations are on several occasions reported to consume marijuana so as to help sustain these situations. The fact that the drug improves memory makes it one of the choices in colleges. The use of marijuana should however be regulated using recommended portions. Too much of everything is poisonous and this applies for the intake of the substance (Lasley, The Dana Foundation).

The use of marijuana is illegal in most of countries including the United States. This is due to the reactions it enhances when used inappropriately. Extensive consumption of the substance increases the level of endocannabinoid receptors in the brain. This gives a user the opposite reaction in that it slows down the function of the brain. The adaptation of the drug continues to pose a dilemma for the authorities in most governments. Despite the fact that the drug contributes immensely in several aspects of health, the country is skeptical on whether to make it legal. This is understandable due to the negative effects the consumption of the drug produces (Freberg, p. 134).

In conclusion, one of the fascinating aspects to note is that 90% of the county has access to the substance. One of the advantages of marijuana is the enhancement of memory on both human beings and animals. It is thus ignorant of authorities to ignore the existence of marijuana by the general public. Research shows that the use of marijuana improves the livelihood of different individuals. This research also displays the dangers that come with the excessive consumption of the drug. It thus up to authorities to ensure that the drug is not abused by the opportunists by educating the public concerning the latest research on the substance.

Riley B. King who is famously known as B.B. King was born on September 16th 1925. He was born in Mississippi Delta from a humble background as his parents were sharecropping. At the tender age of just five years, his parents divorced and moved with his mother to downtown Mississippi. Life became hard for them by the time King was turning seven he was doing house chores mostly done by adults. At the age of 9, another tragedy struck, his mother died and he thus had to go live with his father (Academy of Achievement). His mother had been his source of inspiration and with her gone she felt broken. In search for another source of inspiration, King turned to church, Church of God in Church where he got solace. It is while attending the church that he begun being inspired to do music. He had seen the Church’s praise and worship team and he though music would be something he would do.

King had the desire to start creating gospel music and his preacher noted. At age 12, the preacher begun teaching him how to play a guitar that he had acquired from his employer. He would sing in spiritual groups of his church including Elkhorn Singers and the Saint John’s Gospel Singers (Academy of Achievement). He began singing in street corners while playing guitar in a bid to raise money that would help him survive. This humble beginning marked an important phase in life as it became a stepping-stone to which he would begin his successful music career. King has had such a huge impact in the music industry especially in the blues genre. The music that he made gained both acceptance and recognition in major parts of the world and several other singers accredited King’s music as being part of their inspiration including Frank Sinatra and Nat Cole.

His music is of his own class. His trademark was trilling the vibrato that he had developed. He had been able to develop this piece while duplicating the sound of a steel slide. Soon, doors begun opening for King. With the help of Sonny Boy William, he began singing in radio commercials and he was also a disc jockey. He would later on play in small club and by the mid-1960s he was playing in large events. His B.B king originated from a name he had given himself from singing blues “the blues boy from Beale Street” (Dunchin, pg 34). King is the world’s most prominence blue guitarist. He was one blue musician who was able to incorporate other genres of music to his style. He fused pop, waltz, funk, pop and soul to his blues. In one interview that B.B King did, he stated that he was Afraid of doing Blues because he thought people would look down on it especially African Americans as this was not the genre that they were used to.

King’s hard work was unmatched. He had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes but had vowed that the diabetes would not slow his music career down and he did continue with his world tours and shows. Before his death there were several shows that had still been lined. King being successful in his music career his personal life was full of misfortunes as he lost loved ones, fellow close musicians, lovers and aquittance. King got married twice in his life but in both instances the married failed. The failures to thee marriage has at some point been accredited to King’s 250 performances in a year (Richardon, pg. 282-307. These personal tragic loses however did not make him weak but pointed out some of these moments motivated him to writing music. He fathered 15 children during his career and while alive he never disputed they were his children but was supportive enough to even pay for their school.

One of his most notable works that he did was “The Thrill is Gone”. The song was recorded in June 1969 for his album “Completely Well”. The song was originally written by Rick Darnell and Roy Hawkins but was popularized by King’s interpretation. The song has been said to so electrifying and amazingly intense. Although King was known as a well-adjusted person, for this song it was different, he conveyed a sense of jealousy and paranoia. The song was about moving on from a relationship that had ended on a bad note. King had recorded this song so many times but he was not satisfied with the results not until his producer Bill Szymczyk suggested that he could add strings. This addition made the song better and it was this recording that gave king first million-selling record (Herzhaft, pg, 454).

The song became a hit immediately after its release in December 1969. It ranked number three in the R&B chart and in the Billboard Top 100 it was at number 15. “Thrill is Gone” was said to be one of King’s signature songs. His recording earned him a Grammy Award for the category Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in the year 1970 and in 1998 Grammy Hall of Fame Award. The song was also listed by Rolling stone as one of the most memorable songs.

In conclusion, B.B King clearly left a huge impact on blues that is being felt even five years after his death. By the time of his death he had 75 albums. His achievement was so impeccable that he received 18 Grammy Awards, and Presidential Medal of Freedom. King Died in2015 at the age of 89 a man proud of the man he had become. He was just a boy from Beale Street and had dared to dream becoming the greatest R&B musician.

Developing countries have often been overlooked in terms of having a decisive role in international trade and benefits associated with the process. It is obvious that such policies have an effect on trade volume between the developing countries. The movement of goods and services from the domestic to the local market necessitates the participation of the government to ensure protection of both the good sad services. The international trade sector has seen many governments in the developing countries experience artificial obstacles and challenges against free trade between them and other countries. The difficulties and obstacles in the international trade are the import duties together with tariffs imposed on the flow of goods and services, which enter the international market. Other issues are quantitative restrictions in terms of the amount permitted to enter the market, industrial safety, health, safety, and certificates of origin. Systems characterization because of administrative imposition has resulted to commodities becoming expensive. In most instances, the products are produced locally and sold expensively in the local market. Other barriers to trade in the international market for instance are the quota system, which determine the quantity to be imported. Presumably using such a system the importer mostly has to acquire a license before any government is given permission to export any commodity to o another country.

There is a need for developing countries governments embracing policies to ensure an increase of rates of economic growth to protect the international markets or the import substitution policy. It is obvious that domestic savings are inadequate thereby an adoption of aid such as foreign loan from foreign countries to developing countries has been implemented to achieve growth in the international market (Abbott, 234). Any system that is implemented has to serve two main purposes which are the ability to encourage more imports and limited financial resources. Conversely, the economic policy, which depended on import substitution, has failed to attain growth, therefore, necessitating the need for replacement of policies that promote exports. The adoption of such a policy is essential in terms of eradicating the segregation and discrimination in international trade and non-application system protection. Developing countries governments have to establish an integrated financial system and implement prudent economic policies (Reinhart, 250).

Developing countries effectiveness can be enhanced with better coordination among the various governments. The coordination exercise need to begin from the identification interests stage to positions and stands formulation. There is a need for smaller groups in the informal Group of Developing Countries associated with the WTO based on certain issues as well as interests (Narlikar, 267). The formation of such a group is helpful in encouraging full transparency and communication with the other developing countries who are a member of an informal group. At the same time, there might be sharing of the burden in specific areas and information exchange, which will curb efforts duplication and ensure proper utilization of scarce resources. There is a need for coordination, linkages besides networking among the various developing countries governments to ensure active participation in relation to the challenges in the international trade, which involves burden-sharing arrangements among them. Government efforts of developing countries have to be coordinated with those of multilateral central assistance strategies. Such policies and procedures will lead to exports increase to GDP in relation to comparison of economic growth rates. Countries, which have applied the policy’s economy, have achieved economic growth because of the openness’s of the entire process (Abbott, 345). Perhaps the latest trend towards globalization has contributed to the attainment of such policies transparency.

The global level, which is the international trade, has to embrace openness and investment as the main factors to ensure economic growth. It is obvious that the trade barriers often results to a reduction of goods prices trade exchange volume between the developing countries, which has increased consumers goods prices. The aspect has often been a barrier for such countries to take full advantage of trade exchange benefits between them. Despite this, many developing countries often place many barriers and obstacles among themselves for varied reasons such as inefficient companies, which are local producers producer competing with the commodities from other countries associate with high efficiency( Narlikar,345). Such a scenario puts pressure on governments of developing countries to protect goods produced locally from foreign competition.

Developing countries need to endeavor to embrace changes in the process of negotiation in the internal trade to bring greater transparency and extensive participation for them during the process. Various governments from such countries need to come together ad discuss proposals by international trade market and persuade other countries to take into consideration their views to encourage a healthy trade. At the same time, there is a need for wider participation in discussion of barriers and obstacles experienced by developing countries in the international market. Although, there can be challenges negotiating in large groups balance has to work out to embrace efficiency and complete direct participation by developing countries in the negotiating process. Developing countries may deliberate on this issue and make specific proposals for an improved method of negotiations in the WTO (Reinhart, 310). The international trade agreements have a profound impact on developing countries’ economies hence imperative for them not to remain indifferent, but actively take part in negotiations as well as other activities in the forum and ensure they are efficient in the decision-making process.

Conclusion

The developing countries seem to be in a very weak position in terms of negotiations in the international trade market. The weakness has been manifested in different ways, such as them getting less equal treatment in different areas. Developing countries have made noteworthy concessions to developed countries without any benefit with important provisions touching on special and differential treatment not properly implemented. These WTO agreements have manifested larger propositions for the financial system of the country. There is a need for developing countries governments to play a key role in the internal trade process because of its significant effect on the production process. Developing countries need to exhibit political determination and not allow other countries to push them around during WTO forum. At the same time, they need to be resolute and make usage of the forum serve their interests and reduce impacts on them. The countries have to confident, identify their negotiating strengths, and apply them effectively. The biggest negotiator strength in a multilateral negotiation is based on enjoying of full support of their countries in relation to the stance taken by them. Developing countries have to enhance and strengthen their machinery of decision-making and change their negotiation strategy to prepare them comprehensively in the WTO negotiations. Conversely, they need to fight for a total change in terms WTO negotiating process.

Room Movie: Erickson’s Theory

Room is a movie that teaches us a few things on psychology. The plot of the movie revolves around a mother and son that are confined in a space for years. The two are in a claustrophobic shack which is located in a suburban backyard. The woman who is Ma and his five-year-old son Jack were imprisoned by a man who had constructed a shack so that the two stayed there locked up like his personal possession. Jack is so profound of the movie characters including Dora the Explorer and Bob from Bob the Builder and although the characters are actually not real, he believes that they actually are real. One can pick up his naivety as he narrates the book because he has never been outside the room. This paper uses Erickson’s theory of psychosocial development to analyze the movie.

Erickson’s theory of psychosocial development is among the most discussed theory when it comes to child development. He argued that during child development, a personality had to be established in the early life of their child and this personality would be established in their whole life. He also argued that the conflicts that we encountered in our lives during development were not all unconscious rather, most were conscious because of the development process. His argument on the child development was based on the fact that a child’s development was contributed by social relations. His theory had eight stages of development that concentrated on series of development and the conflict occurring through the lifespan (Sokol, pg. 14). The crisis that occur in each stage, one ought to be resolved as it helps one get psychological strengths. The eight stages are; trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. role confusion, intimacy vs isolation, generativity vs. stagnation and integrity vs. despair.

Trust vs. mistrust begins from birth to around the age of 12 as infants begin to realize if adults can be trusted. If a child is able to meet their basic needs of survival, then they know that they can trust the adult. In the movie Room, this stage is completely evident as we see Jack completely in love with her mother. He is angle to identify his mother’s true love and knows that the mother would do anything to protect him. For most infants if the feel they are being treated cruelly then they may decide not to trust the adult in their life.

We can also see the autonomy vs. shame from the movie as we see Jack developing a preference on certain cartoon characters that he feels he can interact with and also feel that they are his friends. This stage begins when a child is 1-3 yeas as children begin to learn how they can interact with the environment and begins to develop preferences on certain elements such as toys and food. Her favorite characters are Dora and Bob (Hunt). At this stage, a child often tries to create independence and this stage is often referred to as the “me do it” stage. In the movie we can see Ma letting Jack be independent and be his own person. If a child is denied the opportunity to be their own person and make their own decision a sense of doubt and shame may develop in them. This at a later stage in life may contribute to self-esteem issues. When Ma is able to escape from his captor, we see Jack able to catch up in the outside world pretty easily because her mother had established confidence in him.

The next stage in Erickson psychosocial stages of development is the Initiative vs. Guilt and occurs in children around the age 3-6 years. During this stage the children can be able to initiate activities and assert a control over their world by social interactions such as play. Ma plays with her child from time to time including doing exercises. During play time Jack appears to be a very happy girl. Her mother also engages her in her cooking for example breaking the egg and cleaning the dishes after they are done. She is however not in a position to interact with other school going children because she is locked up.

From the movie, the eight stages of Erickson theory only go until the third stage because Jack is five in the movie. Despite this we are able to witness child’s development even in a situation that is quite traumatic. It is evident that a mother’s or guardian love is important in helping a child grow. A child’s understanding of a traumatic situation at a young age is also completely different, with reassurance from the parents that they are okay then they believe that they are okay. The only attachment that Jack has in his life is his mother and the objects around him. One way that people deal with seclusion is creating imaginary friends. Jack has an imagination with inanimate objects that surround him including wardrobe, chairs and skylight and tries to make sense of them (Klickstein).

In conclusion, Jack’s development can be seen throughout the movie The movie looks into the life of a child who does not really seem to understand the meaning of trauma as the mother as shielded him. This portrays the understanding that most children tend to have had the trust they put on their parents for most children they knew that with a parent who loves and care for them is around, then they have nothing to worry about as everything will be okay. Age is an important factor in how we react to adversity. Jack who is 5 does not understand the situation he is. The doctor actually recommends Ma for being able to escape while Jack was only plastic and thus becomes easier to recover from the trauma.
