SLP Assignment Expectations

As you research the organization you selected from the four on the Fortune List, if you cannot find the information you need on the specific organization, instead discuss information from other private-sector organizations. Apply HRM terminology, HRM background readings, research, and business examples of HRM policies, practices, and procedures as they might compare or contrast to your chosen organization. Bring in other private-sector employers' HRM activities, systems, practices and procedures as examples that fit into your assignment dicussion.

Prepare a paper that is professionally presented (including a cover page, a "List of References," headings/subheadings, and a strong introduction and conclusion). Proofread your paper carefully for grammar, spelling and word-usage errors.

Address all aspects of the assignment as stated above.

Complement your Internet searching with library searches and be sure to bring in information from the background readings. Evaluate resources and select only library/Web-based resources that provide reliable, substantiated information. Give sources of borrowed information in the body of your text as footnotes, numbered end notes or APA style of referencing.

Module 3 SLP

In this SLP assignment for Module 3 our emphasis will be on demonstrating knowledge of Human Resources functions and be able to apply the knowledge to “get, keep, and grow” talent, a key aspect of the HR professional’s job.

Later, in MGT411 (Advanced Topics in Human Resource Management) Module 3 SLP you will continue to develop your application of knowledge of Human Resources functions and be able to apply the knowledge to “get, keep, and grow” talent. In that assignment you will be working on your conceptual and critical thinking skills.

And, finally, in MGT491 (Integrative Capstone) your conceptual and critical thinking skills will be further developed. In Module 5 SLP of that course you will complete an extensive written assignment.

These three assignments build upon each other and aim to offer you the opportunity to enhance and demonstrate your knowledge of Human Resources functions and be able to apply the knowledge to “get, keep, and grow” talent.

The grading rubric below has been developed to measure student success in meeting the MGT407 SLP 3 expectations related to applying business theories and problem solving. Rubrics for the other two courses are included in their assignments.

Continue on with the same reference organization chosen in Module 1.

Again, we are not looking for factual information specific to your chosen SLP employer. We are looking at current, HRM-specific information that might be applicable to the employer you have chosen.

For your Module 3 SLP paper please address the following questions, using background materials and library research. Be sure to reference specific HRM terminology and definitions as they apply to your analysis:

· Traditionally, HR was viewed as the conscience of the organization and the employee advocate. Now, HR is expected to be a strategic business partner to the CEO and other executives. Are these conflicting and/or competing roles? Please discuss.

· How can HR contribute to bringing about needed changes in your selected organization?

· What areas of HR will take on greater importance in the future?

· Is it critical that only the best performers are employed in an organization (such as your SLP organization)? Why, or why not?

· What are some ways that employers today communicate and document employee performance-related information? Please discuss.

Please write 2 to 3 pages on these questions and upload your paper by the module due date.
