You are driving home from work. But you have an urge to stop at McDonald’s for a bit to eat…you had little for lunch. You drive up to the takeout window and place an order with the sales associate for the following: Big Mac, fries and a drink. The clerk places the order into the food ordering system. The system’s TV monitor in the kitchen tells the cook to make your order. Meanwhile, you pay in cash and the associate gives you a receipt. When the order was placed into the system, it populated the system’s goods sold file and the inventory file. When the kitchen finishes the order, the associate gives you the order and you drive away. At the end of the day, the restaurant’s manager reviews the sales and inventory reports from the system.
