For Essay #2, choose a problem you see in society that needs a solution. This paper will be argumentative, and the argument should focus on possible solutions to the problem or issue. Clearly identify the problem, possible solutions, and who should be involved.

Research

• A minimum of 6 sources must be used

• Only 2 of the sources can be .com (“dot-com”) Websites

• At least 2 of the sources must be scholarly sources

• All source material must be cited in APA format

Length & Formatting

This essay must:

• be 2,000 to 2,500 words long

• use APA formatting

• have an APA-style cover page

• have an APA-style Abstract

• have an APA-style References page

Limitations

• Do not use any form of the pronoun “you”

• Do not ask questions

• Do not use Wikipedia

Goals

• To effectively use an introduction and conclusion

• To clearly communicate the main idea or belief, and to persuade for a certain solution to a problem.

• To proficiently use basic development strategies to create a longer work

• To use correct grammar and punctuation

Evaluation

• Content (25%): Relativity of content to the assigned topic, skill of communication, quality of ideas.

• Structure and Organization (25%): Construction of explanation, focus, transitions from one idea to the next, a thorough exploration of the chosen topic, etc.

• Grammar, Spelling, and language (25%): Articulate and clear arguments, variation of sentence types, complexity of language, appropriate word choice, economy of language, etc. Students are expected to use Standard written English.

• APA Format (25%): Proper use of APA format and documentation.
