Distinction between benefits and incentives
Employees are assets of companies and are entitled to get some benefits and incentives in addition to their salaries and wages. But there is little difference between benefits and incentives. Both provide satisfaction and encouragement to employees. Benefits schemes are given in non-monetary form in addition to salaries. Few examples of the benefits schemes are company pension scheme, health insurance, traveling vouchers etc. On the other hand incentives are given to encourage employees to attain the targets assigned to them. It is directly related to the performance of employees. It is not guaranteed payment. Examples of incentives are Halsey’s incentive plan and Rowan’s incentive plan.
