Briefing Paper 1: Critical Legal Thinking

Instructions:

· Read Hertz Corporation v. Friend, 130 S.Ct. 43.

· Read Hertz Corporation v. Friend case summary found in Cheeseman text page 48.

· Respond to the three Case Questions found in Cheeseman text page 49. Assume your readers know the facts of the case as articulated in the Critical Legal Thinking, Ethics and Contemporary Business questions; argue both sides of all three issues.



Briefing Paper 2: Law Case with Answers

Instructions:

· Read Carnival Cruise Lines, Inc. v. Shute located in the Cheeseman textbook on page 58.

· Assume your readers know the facts of the case and are only seeking your opinions on whether or not ticket contracts and ticket stubs are fair to the consumer; argue both sides of these issues.

Instructions:

· Read Section 3.5 Administrative Regulation located in your Cheeseman textbook on page 59.

· In reference to the Pacifica Foundation case, what power should the Federal Communications Commission have over your business, and what power should the FCC have over what you broadcast to the public?

· Assume your readers know the facts of the case and are only seeking your opinions on the above question concerning your business.



Briefing Paper 4: Ethics Cases

Instructions:

· Your business leadership is pondering over whether or not to maximize profits by maintaining its fleet of diesel trucks or purchasing new hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles. The fuel cell vehicles are projected to cause a negative bottom line for ten years.

· You are explaining your opinions on this issue, both for and against.
