Please read my essay first: Wal-Mart is one of the largest corporations in U.S. Wall-Mart has over 2.2 million employees in 9000 stores. Employees of Wal-Mart are dissatisfied with their wages and working conditions. Low wages and hostile work environment is the biggest organizational issue faced by Wal-Mart. Most of the employees working at Wal-Mart are underpaid. Wal-Mart employees are not getting health benefits. Wal-Mart is mistreating their employees. Wal-Mart manager are cutting employee benefit by not giving them enough hours and health care benefits. In Order to increase profit and reduce costs Management is paying lower wages to employees. Wal-Mart does not have any labor unions. Wal-Mart is laying-off employees and that creates fear and insecurity among employees. Due to lower wages employees under perform and are not engaged in their jobs. The stores are not organized properly and merchandise is not properly displayed. Due to low wages workers are not motivated enough and you can see disorganized store and long checkout lines. Employees underperform due to lack of motivation and unethical management style. Managers are being pushed by upper level to achieve the financial goal with low labor cost. Manager are cutting payroll and putting more workload. Mangers are hiring less people then they need to run the store. This can result in increasing work load and leave employees dissatisfied and unhappy. This management style can affect sales and decline in profit.

be continuously improved without the active learning and participation of every employee” (Kreitner, 2013). Formal training should be given to employees so they can give exceptional customer service. Employees should not have a fear of losing their jobs. Instead they should be motivated by managers and if they make mistakes they should not be punished. If an employee makes a mistake they should be retrained properly instead of giving them correctives. According to Kreitner (2013) “Manager should positively motivate their employees to better their performance instead of pushing them to achieve numerical quotas”.

To improve the working conditions Wal-Mart should give raises to employees and increase the wages. Wal-Mart should set a target for employee and who ever achieves the target Manager should give incentives to those employees. For instance Wal-Mart can organize incentive for the cashiers. Cashier who is fast and most efficient should receive an incentive and the end of every week. Managers should give at least 40 hours of work to full time employees. The rewards and incentives will motivate the employees to work harder and be efficient at their work. Manager should recognize exceptional work and reward its employee accordingly.
