In this assignment, you will demonstrate your ability to conduct a situation analysis based on the
content we have covered in the earlier courses. Please note that the situation analysis you will
submit here is a brief description of the theories/concepts and the ways in which you would
incorporate them into the choices you make for your campaign. You will be asked to develop a
new media element that is at the heart of the problem being presented. Please pay attention to the
sections on research, SWOT analysis, PR theories, and new media.
Background situation:
Countries such as Singapore and Hong Kong depend upon foreign domestic workers to support
the economy. Foreign domestic workers (FDWs) migrate to these economic centers in the global
North from their spaces of livelihood in countries such as Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Myanmar, and India. One of the challenges experienced by FDWs is poor treatment in the
private spaces of employment, with limited opportunities for regulation of the work climate. In
Singapore, FDWs experience a wide range of struggles.
Please take the following steps in developing your situation analysis:
1. Based on secondary research, identify the key problems experienced by FDWs in
Singapore.
2. Once you have identified the problem, put together a situation analysis that addresses
the different aspects of the problem.
3. Conduct a SWOT analysis.
4. Develop an analysis of the new media environment around domestic work in Singapore.
5. Based on the SWOT analysis, develop a problem statement. Your word limit for this assignment is 3000 words. The entire assignment is worth 250 points. To
pass the assignment, you will need to score at least 150 points (60%).

research findings have to be provided.

You will need to present and analyze all of the elements of situation analysis. SWOT analysis (30 points)
You will need to present a SWOT analysis that covers all the components. The depth of analysis
and rationale have to be excellent.

You will need to present a media analysis that is backed up by research.

You will need to present a problem statement that is backed by research. It has to be connected to
the situation analysis.
