1. Give one example for each of how water can be conserved by agriculture, industry,
individual homes and buildings. Please explain each of your examples.
2. Define sustainable soil use and summarize how conservation tillage, crop rotation,
contour plowing, strip cropping, terracing, and shelterbelts help to minimize erosion and
mineral depletion of the soil.
3. Investigate the sources of air pollution in your own home and describe what you plan to do about
them. Have you had any health effects from indoor air pollution either in your home/work/school?
What topographical and climate factors either increase or help decrease air pollution in your
community?

4. What is "earth sustainable agriculture"?
Do you think that governments should phase in agricultural tax breaks and subsidies to stimulate
farmers to switch to more sustainable farming? Why?
Do you think that governments should phase in higher taxes and reduce subsidies to discourage
farmers from using unsustainable, earth-degrading types of agriculture, and then utilize the
resulting revenue to encourage earth-sustaining farming? Explain.

5. How can you prevent water pollution? How could you influence the next generation (your
children) on how to prevent water pollution?

6. What topographical and climate factors either increase or help decrease air pollution in your
community?
